Knowing That
God's Word Is Enough
Truth Is Sufficient
The Truth of God’s Word is adequate to navigate you successfully through the situations, circumstances, and relationships of your life. Conjointly, we must trust the power of ‘truth’ to accomplish what God sent His Word to accomplish. Truth is Sufficient!
2 Thessalonians 2:10
Body, Soul, & Spirit
The Built-In "Knower"
The reason we know Truth the moment we hear it is because of a built-in mechanism every human being possesses from the moment they enter this world — the conscience — what Scripture calls the human spirit.
Your conscience — your human spirit — is the knower. It registers absolute truth the instant it meets your ears. You don't have to be trained to detect it; something placed inside you by the Creator recognizes it on contact.
Think About It
If there were no way for people to know absolute truth, then life would boil down to my opinion vs. your opinion.
That would be unfair of Creator God to make us that way — because then, what would He hold us accountable to?
If it's based on opinion, I get to decide what is acceptable to God. So do you. So does the next person. So does someone else.
What does all of that equal? Chaos — and a God who is not just. That is not the God who made us.
A righteous God would never build a creation in which right and wrong is a matter of taste. So He did not. He placed a standing witness inside every person — the conscience — so that no one is left without a reference point for truth.
— Romans 2:15
The Second Witness: The Spirit of Truth
Conscience gets every person started. But there is a second, greater Witness — the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of God, also called the Spirit of Truth. Jesus promised Him by name:
— John 16:13
Once the Spirit of Truth takes up residence in a person, that person immediately becomes a witness to the Truth — not a student of it, not a spectator of it, but a witness. The evidence of Truth is carried inside them.
How It Plays Out in Everyday Life
When absolute Truth is spoken, two things happen at the same time:
- Your conscience leans in. Something inside recognizes the weight of what was said.
- The Spirit of Truth confirms it. A settled, unshakable knowing rises up from within.
That is why a Scripture-grounded word lands like water on a thirsty heart — and why a polished lie, no matter how well-dressed, leaves you uneasy. You are not guessing. You are witnessing.
So — Who Really Knows What's True?
Every person, at some level, through the conscience God placed inside them.
And every born-again believer, at the fullest level, through the indwelling Spirit of Truth.
The Truth of God's Word is sufficient. It does not compete with opinion; it is recognized by the very instruments God built into us to recognize it.
